For safety, legal, and environmental reasons, not all materials can be placed in the trash for collection. Please review the Acceptable and Unacceptable lists below.
Residential recycling materials are picked up every other week. Depending on where you live, you will be assigned the Week A or the Week B schedule. You may view the schedules below.

Residential recycling collection service begins very early on Monday through Friday, so please place your recycling out the night before. To ensure a clean and effective pickup, please:
Remove caps or lids
Rinse thoroughly
It is OK to leave on labels and neck rings
Flatten ALL boxes/cardboard
Bundle all cardboard that does not fit into the recycling bin
(no larger than 2’x2’x2’) and tie with natural twine)
Check weather forecast: If the forecast calls for high winds or rain,
keep your recyclables inside until the following pickup if possible.
Cover loose paper with heavier containers to prevent it from blowing away
Remove all packaging (Styrofoam, peanuts, plastic, bubble wrap, plastic liners, etc.)
A bulk item is an item that is too large for the container or 32 gallon bag and includes items such as: couches, mattresses, tables, recycliners, etc. A tire that does not exceed 36 inches in height or 16 inches in width is considered a bulk item.
One bulk item is allowed per week. Before placing your item out for pickup, please call to 717-709-1700 to schedule your bulk item pickup.
Items that contain Freon require special collection and handling. Items with Freon include refrigerators, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, etc. Before placing your item out for pickup, please call to 717-709-1700 to schedule your Freon item pickup.
Each quarter there will be a special collection of Covered Devices like electronics. The dates and details of these events will be published in this section.
New residential trash customers will receive their first invoice in the mail. With that invoice, residents can visit the Online Bill Pay section of our website and pay their bill online either one transaction at a time or set up an automatic bill pay arrangements.
